An extension to the family home has created a sociable open-plan space for cooking, dining, entertaining and relaxing, with the stylish island unit at its heart. Mrs Clark opted for handleless kitchen cabinetry in a modern neutral colour combination of mohair and concrete, paired with slimline worksurfaces and a timber breakfast bar slab. The cooking area features a downdraft extractor that slides out of sight into the worksurface and has a duo of sink and taps which optimise the functionality in different zones of the kitchen.
The Frames downdraft hood FDW 908 IB XS provides discreet and effective extraction in the open plan environment.
For the island unit, Mrs Clark chose a sink and tap combination which would help with food prep and cooking. The Frames by Franke large single bowl stainless steel sink (FSX 211 SS) with Rollamat and black glass chopping board with silicon soft pad is paired with a Frames Semi-Pro side lever spray tap in chrome with flexible hose.

This stunning kitchen was designed to respect the dramatic architectural form of the house. The cabinetry was positioned ‘centre-stage’ and inspiration was drawn from the curvature of the stairs and glazing so twin islands were introduced to rest on bespoke industrial cylinders. Curved extractors drop symmetrically over each form with subtle curved edging on the tall pods adding just the required balance of detailing. The spacious sink and boiling water tap sit elegantly in the design, while providing exceptional functionality.
Minerva Mondial 3-in-1 instant boiling water tap stainless steel provides mains hot cold and 100°C water. It is paired with the double bowl Largo undermount sink in stainless steel (LAX 120 36-36) providing the functionality for every day kitchen tasks
Bedfordshire couple, Suzanne and Danny, opted for a kitchen design with pared-back simplicity combining the honesty of light coloured plywood with dramatic accents in black for the sink, tap and light fittings. Lacquered plywood has been used to construct the kitchen cabinets and create the open shelving and large fold-back doors that cleverly conceal or reveal the colourful array of cooking equipment. This forms a fun and stylish backdrop to the sink space and focal point for the open plan kitchen and living space. This kitchen was featured on BBC2’s Your Home Made Perfect in May 2019.
Franke’s Neptune L-spout tap in matt black finish was paired with two single bowl Sirius sinks in matt black Tectonite, a synthetic material which combines high performance and good value. The perfect ‘style on a budget’ combination.

Kitchens don’t get much more bold or luxurious looking than this stunning matt black and brass kitchen in Naomi and Danny’s industrial-style home. Sleek slab-style cabinetry in matt black is blended with a black Ceralsio Marquina ceramic worktop creating a strong and streamlined aesthetic. Brass tiles, handles and pendant lighting bring a warm metallic glow to the dramatic matt black scheme.
Naomi and Danny selected an Omni Contemporary 4-in-1 instant hot water kitchen tap in matt black, its silhouette standing elegantly against the brass backdrop. The tap dispenses filtered 100°c boiling water, filtered cold, and standard hot and cold mains water.
A Kubus Fragranite KBG 160 sink in Onyx maintains the moody look, while providing a practical one and half bowl sink in a high performance material.
Streamlined design and dramatic contrast are the key elements in this ultra-modern home in Swansea. Black gloss handleless cabinets, splashbacks and a slimline black worktop in a textured finish have been paired with pale neutral wall units and floor tiles to create a minimalist, contemporary kitchen. Central to the kitchen is a statement island unit in black which is striking feature and gathering point for the family.
Franke’s Frames by Franke Semi-Pro Side Lever Spray with a flexible spray hose in black was chosen to complement the monochrome design scheme, while offering super functionality for rinsing and washing up. It is paired with a Franke Ariane ARX 160 stainless steel sink undermounted into the Dekton worksurface for a sleek and streamlined look.
Homeowners Laura and Glynn ripped out their old kitchen and its place wanted a space that was family friendly and ideal for work, play and entertaining. Design-wise, they wanted a contemporary style with an industrial twist that had light, warmth and texture. To achieve this they opted for handleless cabinetry in graphite and copse green by PWS Second Nature, contrasted with white quartz worksurfaces, while wood for the breakfast, bench and tables brought warmth to the space. To soften the look further, the couple accessorised with natural items such as wood, hessian, wicker and leafy plants.
The couple selected Franke’s Omni Contemporary 4-in-1 instant boiling water tap in gunmetal. Able to produce 100°C filtered boiling water as well as filtered cold and mains hot and cold, Laura describes it as ‘the most practical purchase in the whole kitchen’.
The gunmetal of the tap contrasted beautifully with the Sirius SID 160 Tectonite sink in polar white which was selected to blend in with the calacatta gold worksurface giving a smart, streamlined look.
